Research by Imperial College London suggests that 900 cases of lung cancer diagnosed each year in Britain are down to silica dust exposure at work. The research estimates that 800 a year die from it.

 

In the EU, around 7,000 cases of lung cancer a year are thought to be caused by silica dust exposure.
