FAKE
Sadly, while around half the people who are diagnosed with a type of cancer can now be cured, for lung cancer the survival statistics are still poor. Cancer Research UK says:
- a third of people diagnosed with lung cancer survive for at least one year after diagnosis
- 5 per cent of people diagnosed with lung cancer survive for at least 10 years
- lung cancer has one of the lowest survival rates of any cancer because over two-thirds of patients are diagnosed at a late stage, when treatment to cure it isn’t possible.
